Dreaming In Indigo

I am smitten with Indigo right now. I love the color and to me it is the new Emerald.  Mark my words....Indigo is going to be the new trending color. I can't tell you how often I find myself choosing items in this color, it's seriously like a magnet.  Indigo is easy to pair both complimentary colors as well as contrasting and I love all the combinations.

In home decorating and styling you can either choose to use indigo as the accent color or as the main focal color. I tend to like the latter.  Pair indigo with accents or coral, orange, yellow, white, emerald, or a combo of two of the mentioned colors. Here is some inspiration!

Here are some of my favorite indigo pieces to style your home.

Perfect Pairing - Appareled Abode

Happy Happy Friday! Can you believe it's almost mid July? Where has this summer gone? After the 4th I always feel like it just flies by so quickly. There is still enough time to rock all your fun summer clothes.  I have said it before and I will say it again and again...I love the color combo of indigo and tangerine. I love it so much I decided to make this weeks installment of Appareled Abode about just that!

Summer Cocktail - Peach Sangria

A few weeks back my husband, myself, my brother in laws, future sister in law and friends went out on our boat for a relaxing Saturday out on the water. The sun was shining, the weather was hot and we cooled off with some dips in the ocean but also with some ice cold beers and a nice batch of peach sangria.

I made the concoction the night before to get the fruit juices simmering. I personally tripled the recipe (yes I know that is a little much) but it was the perfect amount for the 7 guests we had with us on a boat for 8 hours.

A lot of people have asked for the recipe and although I am a few weeks late sharing it, here it is!

Peach Sangria

Ingredients
  • 2 ripe peaches cut into wedges
  • 4 peaches diced, peeled and puree
  • 1 pint strawberries, cut into quarters
  • ½ cup peach schnapps
  • 2 bottles white wine
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

We used Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc for the white wine. It has just the right amount of sweet. Plus the double bottle was only $11.99.

We cut up all the peaches and added strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, lime and orange to the mix.

The fruit all cut up before we added the alcohol and pureed peaches

Letting it all soak in!

Directions
1 Combine the peaches, strawberries and any other fruit you choose to add into the container or pitcher. In a separate pitcher combine the schnapps, wine and sugar in a large pitcher and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Then add the liquid to the fruit.

2 Let stand 1 hour or overnight.

3 Add some ice &  serve.

CHEERS!

Coffee Table Styling

Who doesn't love a well styled coffee table? I do! Shocker? Not just because I am a designer but because they can be so personal to each individual. You place what you love on the coffee table, for every guest to see. It's not just a place to lay your remote.

I am currently styling a coffee table for a client that has very modern home but wants to bring in a side of shabby chic! What a combo and I think it's going to be a perfect mix. The table is going to be so fun to style. I already have so many ideas and can't wait to put it together.   Here are some of  my favorite table styling for you all to drool over, oh and get a little inspired too!

Lucite, Zebra & Magenta = Amazing styling

I love how soft and serene this room is. The table is a bit modern but the black legs and right angles work perfect. The elements selected really soften the hard lines.

This mirrored tray is everything. I love it mixed with the pop of yellow fabric on the ottoman below.

Books & Hydrangeas. Nothing else needed.

Sexy set. I love the small vase. The table mixed with the vase brings a lot of texture.

GLAM. gold, white & pink. What kind of candies are those?

I love this porcupine book topper. Fun. It would keep my dogs off the table too!

Normally I would say to take an item away but in this case the mix of all the books works. I love the white candles in the mixed levels of hurricane vases.

This is some of the items I would put on my coffee table if I were to style it....Again.

Back to work....I am definitely inspired!
